Elvira Baryakina is the author of an ongoing novel series devoted to the most significant events of the early 20th century.
Being Russian by birth, and American as luck would have it, she synthesizes diverse languages and cultures in her books. She travels the world collecting the memories of Chinese, British, Argentineans, and others. The result is a distinctive “stereoscopic effect” allowing readers to look at modern history from different viewpoints.
Having lived most of her life in Russia, she has a special interest in the origins and development of the Soviet Union as a power that had a dramatic effect on our past, present, and future.
